Job Overview

Lead by the Senior Associate Vice President for Business Affairs and Administration, the Georgetown University Medical Center Finance Office is charged with the management and oversight of financial operations for the Medical Center.

The Financial Analyst – in a temporary role - processes fiscal transactions, which includes providing financial analysis and reporting, assisting with the development of budgets and financial plans, and monitoring actual results and explaining budget variances.  They also articulate financial policies and educate business officers on University and Medical Center policies.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Business Affairs and Administration, the

Financial Analyst is a resource for all areas of the Medical Center, and works with the fiscal officers of each Sector and departments at the Medical Center.  Interactions include detailed and sensitive e-mails, as well as in-person meetings and phone calls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (healthcare administration, business, accounting, finance)
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience [note: consideration will be given to equivalent combination of education and experience]
  • Finance, accounting, and administrative experience with technical skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Work experience in a complex office environment that requires extreme attention to detail and working with sensitive information
  • Knowledge of how many systems can interact, as well as how data can be collected, stabilized, tracked, updated, and reported
  • Excellent analytical skills and communication
  • Written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational capabilities
  • Detail orientation and a commitment to accuracy
  • High aptitude for analytical thought

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with complex enterprise-level administrative system(s) highly desirable.
  • Experience working in an academic administrative office
