Position Description:

The Financial Analyst II is responsible for operational management and financial planning of clinical contracts and faculty salaries in the Department of Medicine. This position works with Departmental leadership, division chiefs in 12 divisions, the Executive Director, business managers, and the DOM Faculty Affairs team to analyze data to support initiatives to improve upon the department's academic, clinical, and research missions. There is a significant focus on contract administration and tracking of DOM faculty salaries both on the University side and with clinical partners. This role will support the department with tracking contracts, ensuring all revenue is received and going to the correct speedtype/cost center, and monitoring clinical payroll for accuracy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly clinical contract documentation for hospital and clinical service contracts and provide data analysis on contracts by tracking contract data to ensure commitments are realized.
  • Manage the clinical contract submission process to Compliance 360 and UL Health Symplr for all divisions within the Department of Medicine, in conjunction with the School of Medicine Contracts Office.  This includes working with clinical partners to determine contract value and services provided as well as working with the School of Medicine contracts team, legal team, and leadership team as well as clinical partners' leadership teams to ensure contracts have been reviewed and authorized by all parties and troubleshoot where needed.
  • Monitor payments (for contracts) and ensure all parties are paying on a regular basis.
  • Manage and compile clinical data to analyze the productivity of clinical providers on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.  Disseminate data reports to division chairs, division business leads, and clinical providers to substantiate clinical activity for budgetary and evaluation purposes.
  • Review clinical employment contracts for all department faculty, both on and off the compensation model, and work with clinical partners to assess productivity reports for accuracy between employment contract expectations and actual productivity.  This includes monitoring incentive payments and base salary components to confirm documentation and compensation accuracy, addressing errors, troubleshooting issues, and proactively managing solutions with the revenue cycle business manager, central business office, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and education about the compensation plan and revenue cycle for clinical faculty.
  • Prepare and manage the monthly and bi-weekly special pay requests through the clinical partners for moonlighting and additional service efforts of departmental clinical providers.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation for monthly faculty payroll details to assess departmental allocation and adherence to budgeting processes, address errors, proactively manage solutions, and work closely with clinical operations managers to ensure the accuracy of the data.
  • Work with department leadership, division chiefs and their staff, and Finance team on the annual budget process for UofL and ULP, ensuring faculty and clinical staff salaries are accurate and follow Budget Office guidelines.
  • Provide support to the Department Executive Director in the tracking and preparation of data and information used in presentations for special finance projects, including yearly budget process planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have an extensive background in RVU tracking and reviewing data anomalies as well as experience in a higher education setting, preferably in a medical school setting.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
