The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office has an opening for Two (2) Full-time University Staff (unclassified) Financial Aid Program Coordinators.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently.

Job Summary:

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships manages the awarding, distribution, reporting, and reconciling of over $280,000,000 in student financial aid for the University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus. The Financial Aid Program Coordinator is a vital member of the university's financial aid department, responsible for managing and delivering specialized financial aid programs to support student success. 

The Financial Aid Program Coordinator will oversee several programs, including but not limited to federal and state grants, loans, and work-study, private loans, state and institutional grants, private scholarship programs, and institutional scholarship programs. This role involves the management of the process, funding, and compliance with federal and state regulations. This coordinator position will also foster positive relationships across the campus community and will promote the department to increase awareness and usage. This position will report to the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations. 

Responsibilities for this role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Program Management:  
    • Develop and implement processes and procedures to administer assigned federal, state, and external financial aid programs effectively.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines for assigned financial aid programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Guide students regarding eligibility, application procedures, and acceptance into assigned scholarship or financial aid programs. 
    • Conduct workshops and informational sessions to educate students about assigned financial aid program opportunities.  
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders to maintain effective lines of communication regarding program needs and support. 
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to cultivate effective processes to support program operations and efficiency.
  • Financial Oversight:  
    • Monitor funding allocations, ensuring proper utilization and adherence to budgetary constraints.  
    • Maintain accurate student records, including disbursements, refunds, student earnings and work hours records, and reconcile financial reports as required. 
    • Receive, post, and deposit checks received by the office.
  • Compliance and Reporting:  
    • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including verifying student eligibility, monitoring allocations, and managing disbursements and refunds of assigned financial aid programs.
    • Prepare and submit required reports to leadership, university stakeholders, and federal, state, and external stakeholders.
    • Generate reports and analyze data to track program effectiveness, recipient success, and overall impact.
  • May Supervise 1-2 Work-Study Students
  • Provide backup support for all financial aid and scholarship programs to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Other Duties as assigned.  

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring range (or salary range ) for this position has been established at $52,790 - $56,382.00 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in financial aid.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with Federal Work Study.
  • Experience working with Colorado state financial aid programs
  • Experience working with Scholarship programs.
  • Experience using People Soft student information system.
  • Experience using Onbase workflows.
