Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Serve as a financial aid counselor for financial aid applicants while maintaining confidentiality and integrity, providing: assistance in the application process; guidance on educational choices related to college costs and financial aid; answering questions about eligibility requirements, special circumstances, and dependency issues; reviewing with students their individual award packages; advising students on the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy and appeals process; and providing any other assistance to applicants and students related to Student Financial Aid. Answer telephones and assist students walking in. Utilizing BANNER, EPRINTS and any other software and or programs required to complete daily work. Management of all forms of Financial Aid by processing reports and paperwork received in a timely and accurate manner, following written policies and procedures. To provide education of Financial Literacy to USC students, regarding budget planning, credit awareness, debt resolution options, responsible saving, and responsible borrowing. Process all VA students within the Federal/State Regulations. Coordinates Constitution Day for USCU. Assist with any programs such as Scholar/Donor Luncheon, Counselor Luncheon, etc., to include planning , decorating, executing and cleaning-up the event. Perform basic office functions such as typing, filing, and mailing. Assist the Director/Assistant Director in the supervision of work studies in the performance of these functions, instructing them on tasks to do and making sure they are making proper use of their time. Other duties as assigned. |

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience. |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience in Financial Aid within the venue of higher education. Experience with Self-Service and/or Banner. Familiarity with the seven counties that USC Union serves. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Position requires excellent computer skills. Must have great communication skills, must be able to interact and work well with administration, faculty, students, and general public. Must have the ability to analyze situations, academic programs, and problems. Must be organized, dependable, and trustworthy. |
