Summary of Position: | Provide financial aid counseling and administration, institutional information disclosure, consumer protection, debt management counseling, financial planning assistance, early financial aid awareness intervention, recruitment, and retention efforts on the part of the University. This position will report to the Big Rapids campus 60% (3 days) and the Grand Rapids campus 40% (2 days). | |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | 1.Manage assigned financial aid programs at a high level that involves maintaining current knowledge and interpreting federal and state regulations, as well as maintaining institutional goals and objectives regarding financial aid. 2.Communicate and maintain a quality working relationship with a diverse student, parent, faculty/staff, and community population, offering information and guidance on financial aid matters at a professional level. 3.Provide counseling to students and parents regarding eligibility requirements, application procedures, and available financial aid programs. 4.Assist in the development of and implements on-going staff training. 5.Develops and recommends financial aid policies and procedures. Prepares documents such as user manuals and procedures, handouts, and forms. 6.Maintain award budgets and reconcile accounts with the Department of Education, State of MI and other University Departments, as needed. 7.Exercise professional judgment, according to federal financial aid regulations, in an equitable and consistent matter as it relates to changing student’s cost of attendance, changing dependency status, or altering financial aid data due to special circumstances. 8.Determine student eligibility, financial need, and award complex financial aid packages involving, grants, loans, work study, and scholarships. 9.Present financial aid information programs, both on and off campus, including evening and weekend presentations (i.e., Recruiting Events, Financial Aid Nights, and Orientation). 10.Develops computer programs and reports in an effort to analyze, test, and verify system processes and procedures. 11.Maintain statistical data for use in federal, state, and institutional reports. 12.Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. 13.Develop relationships with community partners. 14.This position will report to the Big Rapids campus 60% (3 days) and the Grand Rapids campus 40% (2 days). 15.Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. | |
