Job Summary

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, a major teaching hospital of the University of California, San Francisco, is recruiting a Finance Manager. We are seeking an outstanding professional with a record of excellence in managing financial operations, strong communication skills and interested in a leadership position. Candidates should exhibit flexibility, approachability, support of our mission and enjoy working in a thriving, active and diverse Division.

The Finance Manager provides financial expertise and directs budgetary and financial analyses that contribute to the organization and overall functioning of the Division. Working closely with the Division Manager, this position oversees, monitors and reports on the overall financial performance of the division; has expert knowledge of Department of Medicine and University finance systems including, but not limited to MyReports, UC Path, PeopleSoft, BearBuy, PLUS, DOMBO cFTE; analyzes regular and ad hoc reports for professional fees, division accounts, gift accounts, faculty discretionary accounts; manages and directs the annual fiscal year budgeting process. Serves as an expert to ensure compliance with UCSF accounting practices; supervises division finance analysts; oversees petty cash, general ledger verification and reconciliation of accounts.  In addition, the Finance Manager will oversee the Division’s clinical endeavors which include related affiliation agreement funds, SFDPH/City Contracts and clinical reporting.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

 

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home-base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care since 1983. The Division’s work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations. The Division consists of approximately 36 faculty members, 11 fellows/postdoctoral scholars and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at ZSFG, with a total expenditure budget of approximately $52 million dollars.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and five (5) or more years of related work experience with three (3) or more years of lead, managerial or supervisory experience; and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Extensive knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques, accounting and bookkeeping
  • Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts as well as how to control organizational budgeting
  • Ability to prepare and present materials to internal and external constituents
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource policies, practices, and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels
  • Proven ability to deal with changing priorities and direct the work of others accordingly. Ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to screen applications, interview candidates, and either make selection decisions or recommend individuals for hire
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
  • Client services oriented; has good listening, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree- Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • CPA or CMA
