General Information
James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is seeking an Associate Head Coach of Field Hockey. This position is a full-time, 12-month position with a full comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated start date is upon first availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coaching, training and motivating student-athletes in order to achieve competitive success while aligning with the Head coach’s philosophy. Educating individuals and team through film presentations.
  • Having a significant role in the pregame presentation and game day responsibilities.
  • Support the administration of the program. Duties include assisting the head coach in organizing and scheduling practices, facilities, games and weight program; supervise the care, maintenance and inventory of equipment; team travel details, scout opponents, academic liaison and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
  • Recruiting coordinator, Take the lead with the recruiting of quality student-athletes who meet admission requirements and who have the potential to graduate.
  • Encouraging player development by possessing a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant institutional, MAC Conference, NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, be positive and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community to better enhance public relations.
  • Guide and support the James Madison University Student-Athletes in their quest for excellence-academically, athletically, and socially, as they prepare for productive and meaningful lives.
  • Uphold the integrity of the department by respectful manners and conduct.
Qualifications
Required:
  •  At least two years’ coaching experience at the college or club level in the sport of field hockey

Preferred:
  • Elite level experience, playing or coaching
  • Masters, Level 2 or 3 coaching certification

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
