Web Manager, College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences

The College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences seeks a skilled and motivated Web Manager to oversee website development, mentor student staff, and collaborate with College clients. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in managing websites across various departments and research initiatives while supporting the College¿s mission . Our large college has complex needs with faculty and staff in several buildings throughout campus, so our website and technology needs are especially important as we interact both internally and with our students and the general public. What You'll do in this position:

  • Develop both static and dynamic data-driven websites for college clients and ensure adherence to best practices and policies for website security.
  • Plan and implement web design and usability across the college. 
  • Stay current with industry trends through participation in in technology conferences and/or seminars both on- and off-campus.
  • Emphasize student employee mentoring efforts through managing a team of computing support student staff, including recruiting, hiring, supervising, and training.
  • Set goals with student employees, provide performance input and feedback, and resolve differences and conflicts when necessary.
  • Ensure that student employees properly document their functions and responsibilities and establish backup resources wherever possible.
  • Consult and collaborate with college clients concerning their website needs, develop improvement plans, and establish an atmosphere of cooperation with all college units.
  • Provide leadership, strategy, and vision for college websites.
  • Participate with colleagues in parallel positions in other colleges at the University to share information, advice, and successful practices for web support.
  • Meet regularly with the director of Computing Services to exchange information and manage priorities.
  • Represent the college on university committees and build positive relationships with college clients, peers, and OIT.


What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent development experience
  • 2 years each of website development and maintenance, database experience, and customer service or working with clients
  • Strong web development, programming, and database development skills.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new and emerging technologies and adapt quickly to changing needs of the college
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully complete large and complex IT projects and to supervise service and support personnel
  • Ability to explain complicated technical concepts in widely understandable terms, with a willingness to help non-technical people with these concepts in a respectful and honest manner

Preferred

  • 5+ years of website development/maintenance and customer service.
  • 3+ years of IT managerial, supervisory, and/or project management experience
  • 2 years of design, UX, and UI experience
  • Interest in working in an educational environment
  • Strong portfolio of IT related experience including cloud, servers, security, software development, web technologies, and graphic design.
  • Experience working with low-code frameworks like Mendix, Power Apps, and ServiceNow
  • Experience with cloud development in Asure, AWS, or other cloud offerings 
  • Object-Oriented programming skills (C# and .Net experience)
