The Basic Needs Center seeks a reliable student ambassador to empower, advocate, and meet the needs of marginalized populations at UHD. The Student Empowerment Ambassador will coordinate support services, assist with applications for community resources, support and manage the UHD Food Market, connect with campus and community partners, and coordinate the delivery of services from community resources. In this role, Student Empowerment Ambassadors provide administrative support to the Basic Needs and promotes campus and community events, resources, and other relevant information to UHD students through social media, press releases, interviews, and other appropriate modes of communication.

DUTIES 

  • Interacts with UHD students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members
  • Maintains confidentiality of student interactions and meetings
  • Provides front desk and administrative support to the Basic Needs Center
  • Supports and/-or manages the UHD Food Market
  • Manages and updates Basic Needs social media pages and associated accounts.
  • Drafts and edits communication (e.g., social media posts, press releases)
  • Promotes events, resources, and other relevant information from the University and community
  • Assists with preparing presentations and reports
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available to work 19.5 hours per week
 

Qualifications

 
  • Currently enrolled UHD student
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Experience using social media platforms (including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Hootsuite) and strategies to increase views and followers
