Visiting Scholar
The Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a Visiting Scholar to work in the research program directed by Dr. Timothy Billiar. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working research scholar who is a highly self-motivated individual.
Job description: The successful applicant will have a strong background in both clinical medicine and experience in bench research and experimental design. The applicant will be required to complete a bedside-to-bench research project, identifying a clinical problem in the field of trauma surgery and investigating potential therapeutic targets and mechanisms using animal models as well as large clinical datasets, with an emphasis on single-cell transcriptomic analyses.
Requirements: Candidates should possess an M.D./PhD degree. They should have the ability to work collaboratively and be interested in working with individuals from many different backgrounds including clinicians and basic scientists. Candidates should also have an effective command of the English Language and evidence of effective writing and interpersonal skills.
