Co-Director of Clinical Education

 

Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy is seeking candidates for a Co-Director of Clinical Education (DCE) at any rank for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. We are looking for a dynamic candidate who is committed to excellence in clinical education. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, flexibility and creativity, and experience in conflict resolution and negotiation.

 

Required qualifications include:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • Minimum of 3 years in clinical physical therapy practice
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical education experience (e.g. DCE, SCCE, CI)
  • PT licensure in Georgia, in good standing.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD)
  • Experience with competency-based education
  • Experience as a DCE or SCCE
  • Completion of the APTA Credentialed Instructor Program Level 1 and Level 2.

 

The Co-DCE responsibilities are to coordinate and manage the clinical education activities on behalf of the academic program, collaborating with current DCE and academic faculty to establish clinical education standards, and to evaluate and facilitate development of clinical education sites and clinical faculty. Activities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, assessing, refining the clinical education component of the curriculum,
  • Selecting clinical learning environments that demonstrate sound patient management, ethical and professional behavior, and contemporary physical therapy practice,
  • Facilitating quality clinical education learning experiences,
  • Completing assessments and documentation for all aspects of the clinical education component,
  • Performing academic responsibilities consistent with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and institutional policy.

 

The Division of Physical Therapy has an extensive network of clinical partners from across the United States. Emory Healthcare, with Emory University Hospital adjacent to Emory University, is a large academic medical system including 6 teaching hospitals. Emory University is a premier education and research institution known for its exceptional clinical and research programs. The Division collaborates in teaching, dual-degree programs, and research within Emory University, Emory Healthcare, Georgia Institute for Technology, and the Atlanta community. The Division offers post graduate residency programs in Acute Care, Neurology, and Orthopedics.
