Position Summary
This is a campus wide, full service position focused on repair, install, replace and test pipes, fittings, HVAC/plumbing equipment, hot water heaters, low pressure and high pressure steam heating systems using hand tools and testing instruments. Repair and replace pumps, packing, mechanical seals, bearings, etc.
Essential Duties
· Ensures all work performed in the safest possible manner. Promotes and utilizes all available and necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). Proactively requests additional safety equipment as needed to continue working in the safest possible manner. Observes all safety regulations and policies.
· Facilities Management Department employees are responsible for Essential Services and are required to fulfill their duties during Reduced Operations; such as, classes cancelled and/or the University is closed. Please refer to the My LaSalle Portal for details.
· Represents the Department of Facilities Management to the University Community. As such, employee must be cordial, respectful, helpful, and cooperative in attitude and manner to the community and to other staff members and Facilities Managers. Employee will adhere to uniform and grooming requirements.
· Layout jobs by providing details on type of material, materials list, installation instructions and placement of equipment, pipes, duct, etc…
· Troubleshoot and repair, at an advanced level, the following equipment
 Boiler Systems
 Pumps
 Chillers
 Air Handling Units
 Electronic and pneumatic valve controls
 Heat pumps
 Air Conditioners
 Steam Valves
 Emergency generators (also inspection and installation of)
· Measure, cut, thread or solder piping.
· Repair and maintain equipment steam production/distribution systems and electrical pneumatic controls.
· Repair and maintain Chillers, Air Handlers, and associated equipment.
· Operate remote boiler operations throughout the campus apart from campus’ two steam generation plants. Taking readings, conducting regular chemical tests, preform preventative and regular maintenance, keeps them clear of debris and in good working order, etc.
· Prepare work site by manually digging and back-filling trenches, moving piles of material, etc…
· Prepare and install fixtures, controls and equipment following direction of Facilities Manager.
· Silver solder pipe in size up to 4” in diameter. 
· Proven ability to braze piping.
· Repair and/or install pipe joints by the leading process.
· Prepare and install fixtures, controls and equipment following direction of Assistant Director of Facilities Management
· Experience operating Direct Digital Controls (DDC)
· Operate and Troubleshoot Building Management System (BMS) program and components. Change/update program. Proven experience with Siemen’s Systems. 
· Respond to Work Order request in a timely manner. Use a Work Order Management System (i.e. TMA experience preferred). Response time also applies to accurately completing trade information and closing the work orders using the online system in a timely manner.
· Able to function with a minimum amount of supervision.
· Observe safety regulations and policies.
· Clean jobsite before leaving area. 
· Promptly report all accidents to supervisor and cooperate in the investigation and preparation of accident forms and reports.
· Due to the unlimited access normally required by maintenance personnel, employees will respect the sensitive nature of key(s) and report missing keys immediately. 
Secondary Responsibilities
· At times, may be responsible for supervising temporary help.
· Perform other duties as assigned such as snow removal, freight delivery, and assist outside contractor.
· Provide service for special University events (concerts, alumni weekend, parents’ weekend, student move-in, etc.)
· Overtime may be required due to the severity of a situation which will be determined by the Facilities Management Team.

Required Qualifications
· High school, G.E.D. or trade school diploma.
· Five (5) years field experience in repair and maintenance of HVAC and steam distribution systems in educational, residential and medical environments.
· Certified and licensed for CFC refrigerant recovery.
· Ability to read complex blueprints and schematic diagrams.
· Proven proficiency in field pump repair, mechanical seal, packing and bearing replacement
· Be familiar with campus layout, including locations of utility cutoffs, buried lines and building systems.
· Proficiency completing work orders using online work system.
· Proficiency in servicing both natural and propane gas appliances/fittings/piping.
· Ability to operate, repair and maintain high and low pressure steam systems.
· Knowledge and understanding of local and national sanitation/ building codes.
· Aptitude to work with others as part of a team.
· Ability to work in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
· Ability to understand and give verbal and written instructions.
· Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
· Philadelphia Class A Boiler Operator License
· Proficient with Computers.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
· Essential Personnel. Depending on departmental staffing needs, this position may be required to change the shift/hours of an individual based on the needs of the University.
· Ability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
· Lift, carry, push and pull material and equipment up to 100 pounds.
· Able to work while in confined spaces requiring reaching, bending or stooping for long periods.
· Work from ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms and rooftops.
· Work responsibilities regularly require that activities be performed both indoors and outdoors, night and day, in conditions which offer all temperature and humidity ranges.
· Depending on departmental staffing needs, this position may be required to change the shift/hours of an individual based on the needs of the University.
· Available for “Call Backs” at night, holidays, and weekends.
