Black Hills State University invites qualified, self-motivated candidates for a Facilities System Programmer/Energy Manager for the Facilities Services Department.
DUTIES:
This position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing software solutions that support the university’s facilities management operations.   
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Facilitate energy conservation by identifying and implementing various options for saving energy and monitoring energy consumption.
  • Maintain and install controls and automated energy management systems.
  • Checks and monitors the production of renewable power on campus and energy consumption and make recommendations. 
  • Work with the Sustainability staff to enhance campus culture towards sustainability and energy efficiency.
  • Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and operation of the electrical systems on campus. To include, but not limited to solar panels and invertors, electrical motors and VFD’s, and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot existing energy management systems used in facilities management, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Required:
  • Journeyman license required.
  • Must test, pass and obtain a Master Electrical license within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of three years of electrical experience work in the field or three full years of school or a combination of both.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers, knowledge of local and national mechanical and building codes, and basic knowledge of electrical controls.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to determine when consultation with supervisor is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred:
  • Experience with managing workflow processes and balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

COMMENTS:
  • Occasionally will be required to work at the Rapid City campus.
  • Typical office hours are Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM.
  • After hours ON CALL work will be periodically required.
