Position Summary Information


General Information
The Facilities Engineering Department is seeking to hire a student intern to assist with several unique mapping projects. This position will consist of a mix of indoor office environment and outdoor field data collection with the majority of time expected to be in the field. Position will be flexible with start and end dates and may be extended into the summer of 2024 depending upon department need.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for collecting campus utilities data and assisting Facilities Management staff with additional GIS projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience with ArcGIS product suite (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro etc)
  • Having data collection experience using advanced GPS units (preferably survey grade)
  • Ability to carry GPS equipment essential (15-20lbs)
  • Ability to work long periods of time outside in various weather conditions

Additional Considerations
  • Students currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program with major coursework in Geography, GIS, GPS, Cartography and Geospatial Analysis
  • Understanding of ArcGIS online
  • Experience using Field Maps for ArcGIS mobile application
Conditions of Employment
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
