The University of Maine’s Coordinated Operating Research Entities (CORE) seeks to hire a Facilities Coordinator for the Genetics COREs and the Freezer Program. The Facilities Coordinator supports the mission of CORE by serving as the primary point of contact for the eDNA Lab, the DNA Sequencing Lab, and the Freezer Program and bridging communication between clients and lab personnel to maximize client satisfaction and allow maximum efficiencies within the lab settings. This individual will manage the Freezer Program and serve at the technical lead in the DNA Sequencing Facility. Typical hiring range for this position is $40,000 to $44,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:
- BS/BA degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or other related discipline.
- Prior experience directly interacting with clients or stakeholders.
- Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast paced production environment.
- Must be organized, flexible and pay great attention to detail.
- PC-based computer literacy, including in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly master other programs used in the daily lab processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Prior professional experience in a laboratory.
Preferred:
- Prior experience with the use and maintenance of an ABI 3730xl DNA sequencer.
- Demonstrated experience with the theory and implementation of practices within the DNA sequencing workflow
- Experience with wet lab molecular biology techniques and basic lab equipment.
