Facilities Assistant

This position provides facilities-related support for the School of Public Health and reports to the School of Public Health Director of Facilities.

SPH Facilities is a small team providing full-service, centralized facilities support to SPH departments and buildings.  The areas we support include, but are not limited to:

  • BUILDING REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE: Working with Maintenance to repair or replace damaged, broken or non-functioning building elements.
  • CUSTODIAL SERVICES: Coordinating special cleaning for events, general service and building cleanliness complaints.
  • GENERAL FACILITIES SERVICES: Taking request for new or removal of furniture (Property Disposition process), moving furniture, hanging items, painting, flooring, small construction projects, taking suggestions for and implementing building improvements, taking requests for interior design or AEC services, reserving rooms, providing building and room access.
  • GROUNDS SERVICES: Requesting snow or ice removal, sidewalk salt, tree trimming, mowing, landscaping.
  • PEST MANAGEMENT: Coordinating and resolving complaints related to bugs, rodents, dead animals.

This is great entry-level facilities position at the University of Michigan, with the opportunity to cross-train with Facilities Staff in all areas we support.
