Summary:
The Extra Help Financial Aid Banner and FAFSA Consultant is an employee with extensive Banner and Financial Aid expertise. The individual will have extensive knowledge and understanding of Banner administration, configuration, reporting and process flows in order to ensure financial aid regulatory compliance. The Extra Help Financial Aid Consultant will support the technical work of the department, be a liaison with Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS) and provide expertise and assistance as the department implements FAFSA Simplification Act changes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one training and support for the Senior Data Analyst to establish acceptable processes and procedures in the use of the Banner student financial aid system, reporting tools, SQL and other related software solutions, focused on the system set-up of rules, process rules, budgeting, packaging, and tracking processes. These processes are crucial to the effective packaging and disbursing of financial aid to students, impacting the success of the department and the effectiveness of all financial assistance staff members. 
  • Provide assistance to the Director in Banner updates and processes regarding processing applications and packaging student financial aid offers. 
  • Develop job aids and a technical operational calendar for the department. 
  • Train the Director of ERM Data Analysis and System Services on financial aid related system processes. 
  • Assist in the development of job aids and procedure documentation for technical duties in the office. 
  • Other related duties as assigned. 
  • Minimum Qualifications: 
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
    AND Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a Financial Assistance office;
    AND Five (5() or more years Banner Student Financial Aid and Automic technical and administrative experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Former experience as a Director
    Master's degree
    NASFAA Certified Financial Aid Administrator Certification
    Enrollment management work experience at public colleges/universities
    College admission and financial aid experience
    Slate/Banner experience
    Familiarity with SQL, HTML, Appworx/Automic and other reporting tools.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Interpersonal and written communication skills required for interaction with a diverse group of people including exhibiting sensitivity to, and understanding of, the varied constituencies that comprise a college community.
    Proficiency with web-based software platforms, database tools for data manipulation, aggregation, and validation, and analytical and problem-solving including writing queries and producing reports.
    Ability to be a team player and work collaboratively, be a leader and work independently.
    Proficiency in Microsoft office suite of products, on-line applications, and website content management
    Good planning, organization, follow -through and multi-tasking and skills.
    Detail-oriented and willing to self-start, take initiative.
    Advanced mathematical, fiscal, and statistical know-how; facility with numbers, familiarity with predictive modeling
    Knowledge of state and federal financial aid programs, and regulations and requirements
