Extension Program Assistant I

Pay Grade 32

 

The Extension Program Assistant I, EFNEP Shelby County is responsible to the Extension Agent working with EFNEP and SNAP-Ed & County Director, and supports the work of the Family Nutrition Program Project Director. This non-exempt, full-time position is responsible to assist with program evaluation project duties for EFNEP.  This is a full-time grant-funded position.

Duties include the following:

  • Assist in providing leadership for a program of activities which meet the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status
  • Complete any required training for this program assistant position
  • Prepares materials for programs and trainings
  • Maintains database of program records and evaluations
  • Tracks budget information for programs
  • Orders teaching materials and supplies for program
  • General office duties that support program implementation
  • Assist with other duties as assigned related to tasks for the EFNEP program evaluation projects
 



Qualifications

 

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities. Licenses & certifications):

·        High School graduate or equivalent required. Two years of experience equates to one year of post high school education.

·        One or more years work experience in office work or in an education setting as a teachers’ aide.

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·        Ability to organize files and prioritize tasks.

·        Ability to manage budgets and research topics to be used for education development.

·        General office and computer skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

Typing, computer data entry, public relations, verbal skills, multi-tasking, self-starter, independent worker, shows initiative in daily work habits, team player, respects confidentiality, writing skills and graphics design (for developing newsletters, brochures, program materials), and exhibits an ability to handle stress.
