Job Summary/Basic Function
The Extension Data Specialist will work with the the four program areas in Central State University Extension (CSUE): Agriculture and Natural Resources, Community and Economic Development, Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H/Youth Development. The specialist will provide leadership in data collection analysis for compliance and reporting requirements. The position will provide support and guidance for developing data collection methods, evaluation techniques, and needs assessments. The specialist will also maintain databases for CSUE program data and information.
The Extension Data Specialist will report to work at the Central State University Campus in Wilberforce, Ohio, and will report to the Associate Extension Administrator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide coordination, training, and support for program evaluation, data collection and analysis
  • Maintain databases of all CSU Extension (CSUE) projects, partners, outcomes, and impacts
  • Oversee the process for collecting and analyzing the data for state, federal and other reports
  • Provide data collection instruments for Extension professionals to utilize for programming
  • Maintain appropriate records of data and reports
  • Design and/or develop specific databases for collection, tracking, and reporting data
  • Oversee needs assessment development, data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Assist Extension professionals with impact assessments, sampling, survey development, and data collection and analysis
  • Complete other CSUE related assignments from the Associate Administrator of Extension
Minimum Qualifications
Required
  • Master’s in education, statistics, data analysis or other closely related field.
  • Proven ability to develop evaluation methodology 
  • Knowledge of collecting and interpreting data and ability to write reports to funding agencies 
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication written and oral, mentoring, teamwork, and group process skills
  • Ability to evaluate educational/training programs and find/document evidence of their impacts
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and intentional outreach to underrepresented populations
  • Valid driver’s license to be utilized for frequent travel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in educational/training program development and assessment for the general public, including youth and adults
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Extension organization, operation, and philosophy 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate ability to build and maintain professional work environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dataverse with Office 365, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform
