Position Summary

The UNM Health and Health Sciences Marketing and Communications Department is looking for an exceptional writer! The selected candidate will work closely with executive levels of leadership to write a variety of communications for large audiences. The selected candidate will have the support of a highly experienced communications and marketing team behind them providing assistance on a various projects. The right person for this role will be excited about all the ways UNM Health and Health Sciences is working to create New Mexico’s health care workforce, providing critical care for all New Mexicans, and supporting our students’ success. While a hybrid work schedule can be accommodated after the six-month probationary period, this position does require time on campus, with possible limited work on evenings and weekends.

Details of the role:

• Will work with executive and senior HSC leadership to write, create, and strategize internal and external communications.
• Will write a weekly memo for an executive leader that is distributed across the HSC campus and beyond.
• Will write speeches and talking points for a variety of events including graduations, faculty and provider work groups, student groups, legislators, conferences, and other public facing events.
• Will work in tandem with leadership at UNM Health and Health Sciences Marketing and Communications to organize and strategize effective executive communications.
• The person chosen for this position may be asked to assist creating collateral that would be used for executive communications.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience writing for an executive leader

• Experience working in higher education or higher education communications

• Experience working in health care or health care communications
