Job Summary
 

Responsible for creating and advancing impactful co-curricular opportunities that connect with and engage all students in their college experiences. Directs the Flight class identity program, created to provide programming and educational opportunities that increase students' sense of community and belonging, and the department of Cultural Connections and Engagement, which provides cultural communities that recognize and support all students, ensuring they have a place to connect on campus and learn from each other.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*:
1. Sets the strategic direction for the department, providing ongoing review and assessment to improve the delivery of services to students.
2. Leads initiatives that enhance student engagement, satisfaction, and the overall student experience.
3. Ensures staff develop and facilitate programming for the campus community that focuses on student engagement, success, and inclusion.
4. Provides opportunities for student-led initiatives on issues pertinent to the student population by engaging students in planning, strategy, and outcomes.
5. Responsible for developing and administering policies and procedures and evaluating scope/impact of decisions on both internal and external contacts.
6. Manages Student Engagement and Belonging budgets, including developing annual budget plans, analyzing and monitoring expenses, and making recommendations to leverage existing resources.
7. Supervises a team of professionals, graduate assistants, and student assistants, including hiring, training, professional development, and performance management.
8. Delivers a variety of programs and services for all students that responds to student needs and fosters student engagement and support.
9. Oversees ongoing efforts to develop and implement departmental strategic plans, including assessing program outcomes, services, and contribution to RPG that will further enhance the student experience and support RPG initiatives.
10. Monitors compliance with Title IX, Clery Act, Campus SAVE, VAWA and other federal and state regulations.
11. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating revenue and fundraising resources for the department.
12. Develops marketing strategies for department and services to expand engagement opportunities for students, staff, and faculty.
13. Develops and implements a wide range of student programs, workshops, and activities that actively engage students and enhances their practical and professional skills and their ability to be successful in their personal, academic, and professional endeavors.
14. Supports University and divisional initiatives, including staff involvement, in divisional signature events, as appropriate.
15. Provides support for other divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the scope of department, as requested.


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Required Experience
Ten (10) years of experience related to the position to include previous management or supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field such as higher education, student affairs, student personnel services, educational leadership, or public administration
Preferred Experience
Seven (7) years' progressive student affairs administration/leadership within student affairs or higher education
Experience working with assessments and data to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement for student program and services
Previous experience supervising student affairs professionals and managers

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of assessment, evaluation and planning, data collection, reporting, and synthesizing information for reporting
Proven experience in development of personnel in the workplace and working through personnel issues with full-time employees
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
