Position Summary
This position serves as the lead digital strategist for WashU Medicine’s Marketing & Communications department, focusing on the martech ecosystem. This position collaborates to develop plans and integrates digital initiatives based on the broader business strategy and priorities. The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in steering the web and digital vision to identify business opportunities that help school increase brand image and profitability.
This work will cross multiple digital marketing disciplines: web strategy and implementation, search engine optimization, social media, CRM, paid advertising, and analytics. This role will be responsible for analyzing complex problems, developing effective strategies, partnering to develop and scope solutions, implementation and analysis.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Works collaboratively in cross-functional teams to develop and execute scalable enterprise web and digital solutions. Implements strategies to continuously optimize website performance, user experience and analytics. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to ensure digital solutions are HIPAA compliant.  
  • Provides oversight and leadership for digital marketing team including web, social, paid media and CRM. Collaborates cross-team on projects, managing deliverables and resources in order to understand and optimize digital marketing efforts, create and implement integrated marketing campaigns, and align data reporting with strategy.
  • Builds, tracks, analyzes and reports on KPIs. Oversees marketing analytics aligned with business priorities, including for brand, service line and/or channel.
  • Manages paid media including the day-to-day management of multiple digital marketing campaigns. Executes paid search, display, and social advertising strategies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert by staying current on industry trends and mentoring team members. Shares expertise by mentoring, training, blogging, and presenting digital solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or graduate degree.
  • Fifteen (15) years of business experience, including leading a team.
  • Proven track record of managing within a university setting.
  • Sound judgement, decision making ability and high level of maturity and strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and metrics to inform recommendations and drive results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and ten (10) years related experience.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in marketing and communications.
  • Proven experience in digital strategy, web and social and CRM implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion, including large scale web, digital (CRM) and media projects involving multiple stakeholders.

Salary Range
$108,200.00 - $190,400.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
