Job Summary:

The Executive Director of Clinical Affairs for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Faculty Recruitment in the Academic Health Center plays a pivotal role in the strategic augmentation of the clinical faculty body, focusing on recruitment from within the Graduate Medical Education (GME) residency and fellowship programs, as well as from the UT Tyler School of Medicine (SOM).

The position spearheads various strategic initiatives aimed at ensuring the School of Medicine and related clinical programs and the health system remain a top consideration among residents, students, and fellows in training.  The Director's responsibilities extend to supporting the development of clinical faculty in alignment with the academic and clinical objectives of the SOM, GME programs, and the overarching needs of the faculty practice plan and health system.

The position orchestrates the strategic growth of faculty and acts as a pivotal resource for residents, fellows, and program leaders, undertaking roles in marketing, branding, and enhancing the visibility of the SOM, its clinical faculty, and the communities we serve. Collaborating with the Associate Vice President of Practice Plan Administration, the Director contributes to the formulation and realization of long-term goals and strategic plans for faculty recruitment, ensuring the execution of initiatives essential for achieving these objectives.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

·         Relationship Building and Networking:  Build and nurture relationships within the medical school, residency, and fellowship programs and promote clinical and academic post graduate opportunities within the UT health system.  Develop a targeted approach to identify programs that align strategic needs, focusing on the quality of physician candidates and fostering a pathway for the stipend program.

 

·         Strategic Recruitment Initiatives:  Participate in the development and implementation of innovative recruitment strategies, maintaining an in-depth understanding of the faculty needs, community dynamics, facilities, and leadership within the SOM and the health system, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Create profiles on students, residents, and fellows with their ambitions, achievements, and goals for the advancement of their careers.

 

·         Marketing and Outreach: Craft and disseminate educational materials and presentations aimed at residents and fellows, emphasizing career planning and practice management. Execute multiple events and sessions annually to engage targeted programs and foster interest in opportunities.

 

·         Candidate Engagement and Follow-up: Establish consistent communication channels with program directors and coordinators, especially in high-need specialties. Utilize centralized databases and tracking tools to monitor opportunities and candidate progress, ensuring a proactive approach to recruitment.

 

·         Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the recruitment team to streamline candidate processing, gather feedback, and ensure a seamless match and recruitment process for open positions. Coordinate interviews and interactions with facility leadership as necessary.

 

·         Strategic Planning and Special Projects: Engage in strategic planning sessions and undertake special projects as directed by the Associate Vice President of Practice Plan Administration or the President of the MSRDP Faculty Practice Plan and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, contributing to the overall advancement of the clinical and academic missions.

 

·         Outreach: The position requires travel between locations within the health system, including the SOM and associated hospitals, with potential for recruitment-related travel outside the East Texas area.

Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Health Care Administration or related field required.  
  • Master of Business Administration/Health Care Administration preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant work experience required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Experience in academic recruitment or support preferred.

 

 

Required license/certification:

·         Certified Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP) preferred.
