Position Description:

The Commonwealth Center for the Humanities and Society (CCHS) and the Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture (LCLC) offer a variety of programs designed to appeal to the public and help make the University a cultural center for the city and the Commonwealth.

The Department Coordinator II will assist in event coordination and staffing for CCHS and LCLC activities and as needed, College-wide events. 

Duties may include:

  • Organize and staff CCHS meetings and events for the Faculty Fellows Program, Faculty Research Groups, and the Arts & Culture partnership.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Arts & Culture Partners to generate programming on campus and in the community and assist with the CCHS Internship program.
  • Facilitate Faculty Research group workshops and interdisciplinary meetings, helping with scheduling, programming, hosting, and promoting the event.(Research Group includes Discourse and Semiotics, Americas Research Group and Digital Humanities Collective).
  • Create promotional materials, both print and digital, for CCHS and LCLC events.
  • Facilitate digital communications (website and social media) for CCHS and LCLC.
  • Assist directors with budget tracking and oversight.
  • Assist with the Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture including payment processing, technical assistance event planning and logistics and processing honorariums for guest speakers. This includes arranging conference venues, catering, lodging and transportation for participants, and address special needs requirements; serve as contact person for conference participants.
  • Coordinate with A&S IT for technical support for events, including sound systems, virtual platforms (Zoom and TEAMs), and visual projection (using hardware in various venues); connect Tier One with colleagues for assistance with Adobe, Microsoft, Eventbrite, and other software if needed.

The ideal candidate will understand and be conversant in various interdisciplinary research methods and fields of study, connecting faculty to opportunities that would allow faculty to develop, promote and share their thoughts and findings with the University of Louisville community, colleagues in their particular fields of study, and the Louisville Metro Community at large.

Preferred qualifications: PhD in Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences or equivalent work experience. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be dependable, flexible, creative and have an ability to work on several projects at the same time. 

Target Compensation Maximum:

$27.85

Target Compensation Minimum:

$18.56

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
