Position Responsibilities


Position Summary
Event Safety/Security Officer provides a multitude of services that provides a safe and secure environment for the university community for events happening throughout campus. This position also plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on campus and off campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service.
Administrative Operations’ mission is to provide stewardship of multi-use facilities, administration of conferences, events and activities, business services and solutions while implementing a culture of safety benefiting the education of students, recruitment of faculty, staff and students and continued enrollment efforts.

Responsibilities


Job Duty Function Implement event related safety and security tasks at events on campus by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Operating metal detectors and executing the metal detection screening process;
  • Conducting alcohol enforcement tasks at events, including verifying age requirements and wrist banding patrons and enforcement of university alcohol policies;
  • Enforcing access control enforcement at events by checking credentials, tickets, etc.;
  • Enforcing university clear bag requirements and checking bags as necessary;
  • Conducting general security patrol at events and reporting any emergencies to the necessary city or state officials.

Job Duty Function Provide exemplary customer service by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicating venue and university policies to guests during screening and alcohol enforcement duties;
  • Providing appropriate assistance to guests with disabilities;
  • Politely and respectfully directing guests to ensure screening lines moves efficiently;
  • Answering guest questions and providing directions within the venue.

Job Duty Function Contribute to the team effort by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Accepting additional responsibilities and assignments as directed;
  • Making recommendations and assisting in the optimum use of university resources;
  • Serving as a scheduler for facilities when necessary.

Position Qualifications


Required Qualifications
Experience:
  • Using common office computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheet, email and browser applications.
  • Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals.
  • Following documented policies and procedures.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of safety and security operations best practices.
  • 1 year experience as a safety/security officer.
  • Experience that shows ability to communicate effectively in oral and in written communication.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to move about and between venues for extended periods of time up to a full day of work.
  • Work inside and outside as required.
