The Office of BioMedical Communications provides a comprehensive, holistic communications operation that builds visibility and reputation for the Division of Biology and Medicine and increases engagement with various constituencies. Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean of BioMedical Communications, the office is organized into three core teams â“ Editorial; Digital; and Events â“ that work collaboratively to create multi-modal communications and experiences. Among these is Medicine@Brown, The Warren Alpert Medical Schoolâ™s award-winning alumni magazine, which is published three times a year with a circulation of 15,000 per issue. This, and its sister publication, Health Discoveries, a consumer magazine with a circulation of 45,000 twice a year, have significant carryover content on the web and social media.

The Office is also responsible for the Divisionâ™s 132 websites, a number that continues to grow and represents roughly two-thirds of the Universityâ™s web presence. BioMed Communications produces a number of periodic newsletters for both internal and external audiences and oversees the top-level social media channels for the Medical School. The events team creates successful, memorable experiences through roughly 250 events per year, including signature weekends like Commencement-Reunion and Family Weekend.

The Division of Biology and Medicineâ™s Event Coordinator works with the Event Manager to provide support for activities related to the Divisionâ™s extensive events and related communications efforts. This positionâ™s primary role will consist of coordinating details for assigned events by working directly with the client and service providers to produce events that meet the high standards of the Division.
