Job Summary
 

The University of Chicago is seeking an ERP Solutions Lead in support of our new Oracle ERP platform, working very closely with the Oracle Operation manager for the success of this new program. As ERP solutions Lead, the primary responsibility will be ensuring the smooth operation of the platform including triaging and efficient problem resolution, new feature implantation, coordinating with external vendors and internal technical staff, and providing clear technical direction for day-to-day operation of Oracle Cloud ERP software within the University. You play a critical role in managing the ongoing operations of the ERP system and coordinating the release of new software updates.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operation of the Oracle Cloud ERP system. Monitors system performance; identifies and resolves issues; and ensures optimal system availability and performance. Collaborates with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems and coordinates with vendors for support as necessary. Plans and leads detailed functional, system, and program specifications for complex cross-functional business cases. Identifies and leads the activities related to updating existing system logic difficulties and specifications, as necessary.
  • Supports the IT development group in building new systems and recommends process improvements in existing applications. Reviews and supports designs, testing, and debugging in implementing new or enhancing existing applications. Stays current on Oracle ERP Fusion Cloud updates, patches, and new features to continuously enhance the system.
  • Works closely with developers and technical teams to implement new capabilities, extensions, and integrations as needed.
  • Responds to and resolves technical issues promptly, working closely with end-users, IT teams, and Oracle support when necessary.
  • Communicates technical concepts and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Works closely with stakeholders to assess the impact of software releases on existing business processes and systems.
  • Coordinates configuration management activities to ensure system integrity and alignment with University requirements.
  • Oversees incident and problem management processes for the Oracle Cloud ERP system. Coordinates with support teams to identify, prioritize, and resolve incidents and problems. Implements preventive measures and best practices to minimize the recurrence of incidents and problems.
  • Monitors the performance of the Oracle Cloud ERP system and identifies areas for improvement. Analyzes system metrics, identifies bottlenecks, and works with technical teams to optimize system performance and enhance user experience. Stays updated on industry best practices and new features within Oracle Cloud ERP to identify opportunities for system enhancements.
  • Supports in maintaining relationships with Oracle and other vendors to stay updated on the latest product releases, patches, and best practices. Coordinates with vendors for support and issue resolution and leverages their expertise for system optimization and enhancement.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of release activities, configurations, system issues, and resolutions. Prepares regular reports on system performance, incidents, and releases to stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties.
  • Maintains effective communication channels with stakeholders throughout the operation and release management processes. Provides timely updates on system status and release progress.
  • Defines and promotes best practices for technical development, customization, and support within the Oracle ERP Fusion Cloud environment.
  • Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, including public cloud offerings from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Leads or coordinates teams or projects for activities relating to software support and/or development.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Cloud ERP implementation or upgrades.
  • 5+ years experience working with senior-level stakeholders.
  • 3+ years of experience working with external partners and vendors.
  • Possess a solid technical background in ERP systems, cloud computing, databases, IT security, and integration technologies.

Certifications:

  • Oracle Cloud certification.
  • ERP or additional Oracle certifications.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Leading an Oracle Cloud ERP implementation or upgrade.
  • Past Oracle development and/or architecture hands-on experience.
  • Deep understanding of Oracle's ERP system, including its modules, functionalities, and best practices with an emphasis on financial modules.
  • Proficiency in leveraging Oracle ERP reporting tools.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle ERP technical architecture, including knowledge of the underlying database, cloud infrastructure, integration frameworks, security protocols, and system performance optimization.
  • Skills in designing and implementing integration solutions using tools like Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle SOA Suite, or Oracle Integration Bus.
  • Exposure to Oracle EPM and integration tools like MuleSoft.
  • Possess a deep understanding of Oracle Cloud ERP software, its modules, functionalities, and best practices, as well as the latest features, updates, and industry trends related to Oracle Cloud ERP.

  • Understand change management principles and techniques. Guide stakeholders through organizational changes, providing training and support, and addressing resistance to change.
  • Familiarity with incident and problem management processes, including incident identification, tracking, and resolution. Analyze incidents and problems, implement preventive measures, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships and collaborating with vendors for support, issue resolution, and system optimization. Leverage vendor expertise and stay updated on the latest product releases and best practices.
  • Strong leadership qualities to inspire and motivate teams. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, foster a collaborative work culture, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrate a curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and industry trends. Stay updated on the latest developments in Oracle Cloud ERP and related technologies.
