East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Equipment Manager! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. 

As the Equipment Manager, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable working with a diverse student population You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Athletics Director to manage all equipment, uniforms, and the equipment budget for all 22 intercollegiate athletics programs. You will thrive in this role if you like utilizing your experience managing inventory control systems and knowledge of NCAA and PSAC regulation while ensuring all customers have first-class service for their equipment needs. To be successful in this role, you must be an effective communicator, organized and able to handle a high-volume workload during periods of the year when multiple sports are in season simultaneously. 
 
Your normal schedule will be Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Equipment Manager.  This position will include 20% travel with sports teams to away games and events. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.


What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Build relationships with coaching staff, student athletes, and athletic staff to ensure a first-class experience and a high level of service for all equipment and uniform needs. 
  • Maintain the operations of the equipment room, ensure cleanliness and orderliness, and proper storage of equipment. 
  • Maintain the equipment budget and manage all inventory for all sports programs. 
  • Properly fit student athletes in accordance with NOCSAE and AEMA standards. 
  • Manage the shipping and receiving of equipment and apparel. 
  • Manage, train, and recruit student workers, ensuring scheduling, productivity, and customer service are handled appropriately. 
  • Ensure compliance with all NCAA and PSAC rules and regulations in relation to equipment operations. 
  • Perform related work as required. 

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Four years of experience in stores control work, including two years of supervisory experience or in charge of a storeroom with considerable volume and variety of commodities; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a standard high school or vocational school; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business field is preferred. 
  • AEMA Certification (or the ability to become certified within one year of appointment). 
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Intercollegiate Athletics department’s equipment room, specifically working with football equipment is preferred.  
  • Experience implementing and managing inventory control systems, purchasing, fitting and repairing equipment.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to uniforms and equipment. 
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
