Position Purpose
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Student Technicians are required to work Spring and Fall semesters. While Summer is not required, it is preferred during the first summer of employment. Student Technician that is hired will work with the EHS Manager and the Environmental Coordinator. 40 hr HAZWOPER Training will be provided to successful candidates.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
• Assist with Hazardous Materials management.
• Conduct monthly inspections of AED (Automated External Defibrillators).
• Conduct inspections of campus facilities.
• Assist with campus chemical inventory.
• Assists EHS Manager with conducting Construct Inspections on campus.
• Assist with developing written Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs.
• Assist with and/or conduct safety training.
• Inspect and inventory spill kits and other supplies.
• Perform other task as assigned including computer task and office duties.
Minimum Requirements:
• Students must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), especially a respirator
• Have attended at least one semester (12 credit hours) at UCM
• Have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0
• While on duty, students will have no facial hair that would interfere with wearing a respirator.
• Must wear clean business casual clothing and appropriate footwear.
