Position Summary:

    Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Committee Coordinator - Boca Raton, FL.

    The Office of Environmental Health and Safety seeks candidates for the EHS Committee Coordinator position. Under the direction of the Director, Environmental Health and Safety, this position conducts activities to administer the various committees hosted by the department, including the Diving and Boating Board, University Safety Committee, Radiation Safety Committee, and the MRI Safety Committee.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    • Responsible to the Director, Environmental Health and Safety for managing, processing and facilitating administrative operations of the day-to-day committee functions under Environmental Health and Safety.

    • Coordination of all committee meetings including (but not limited to), online meeting platforms, conference room scheduling, coordination of IT needs, meeting set up and tear down, training workshop coordination, and assisting with all office administration responsibilities related to these committees.

    • Provide support to the committee chairs associated with committee business as needed.

    • Responsible for preparation of committee minutes, coordination of agenda items and timely distribution of materials to members.  Facilitating all meetings and logistics for thorough review of protocols and other materials by members.

    • Coordinate coverage of duties when out of the office to maintain a continuous workflow. Informs Director, Environmental Health and Safety and staff of issues raised by the committees or investigators as necessary to maintain efficient and effective lines of communication.

    • Assist in data analysis of monthly statistics. Assist the unit in providing metrics on an ongoing basis for management analysis.

    • Assists in developing policies and procedures related to the internal operations of committee coordination within EH&S. 

    • Assist students, faculty and staff in preparing protocols for submission to the committees and for pre-screening applications for completeness, accuracy and adherence to the requirements of the regulations as well as University policies.

    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining logs and files. Assuring that proper documentation is filed regarding training certificates, approved protocols, and all other required office documentation.

    • Coordinate the administrative review process. Coordinate daily workflow of committee protocol reviews. Review new protocols, delineate revision requirements, review investigators' responses, prepare and review committee correspondence, elicit reviewers' assistance or refers to Director for decisions.

    • Responsible for quality assuring protocol files after final approval is issued and before filing. Maintain files for accuracy and completeness of file documentation of all actions.

    • May include other clerical responsibilities, special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.
    Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
    Demonstrated experience of delivering effective results in academic and/or research institutions.
    Ability to understand Federal, State and University rules and regulations related to the various committee functions.
    Experience working in higher education with a focus on committee support to perform the essential functions of the position.
    Ability to demonstrate effective committee support skills and speak about effective experiences.
    Ability to communicate effectively and in multiple formats (spoken and written) to a diverse audience in a clear and succinct manner.

    Salary:

    $60,000 per year.
    Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)
