Who We Are

The Aggie One Stop will be an integrated student services office which enhances the student experience by providing high quality customer service for student enrollment services in one place. The Aggie One Stop will provide customer service for the following offices: Admissions Customer Service, Scholarships & Financial Aid, Student Business Services and Registrar.

The Aggie One Stop is seeking an Enrollment Services Advisor I who will primarily serve as a customer service agent, advising applicants, current students, former students, and their families in the areas of applying for admissions, financial aid and scholarships, military education benefits, billing and payments, registration and records, and graduation. We are seeking an individual who is committed to supporting and promoting Texas A&M University’s goals and initiatives in these areas and is highly motivated to enhance the student experience for all Aggies. The successful applicant will have experience in customer service, and a relatable higher education and/or advising work background; be comfortable communicating in-person, on the phone, and in written form with customers; and be highly adaptable and flexible to working in a fast-paced environment. What You Need to Know

Salary: $45,000

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Four months of student worker, customer service or related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • More than one year of experience in higher education, specifically areas of enrollment, admissions, financial aid, registrar, and student accounts.
  • Background in general office conditions with much time spent in contact with students.
  • Experience in advising students in higher education.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend, give, and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation applications. Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively as a team.
  • Ability to organize and make decisions.
  • Ability to relate well with a student population.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate technical information effectively and diplomatically.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and judgment in dealing with all customers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in current versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to type at or better than 50 words per minute with 90 percent accuracy.
  • Ability to provide exceptional service to many customers at the same time.
  • Knowledge Student Information Systems (Banner).
  • Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification, rules, and regulations, student billing, admissions and/or registrar offices.
  • Knowledge of an enrollment management area focusing on outreach and/or retention.
  • Ability to develop and make presentations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Job Responsibilities

Advising - Advises and counsels students, parents, and prospective students on resolving their educational questions and concerns. Advises students and families on financial matters involving, scholarships, financial aid, international services, business services, registration, enrollment, admissions, and veterans’ benefits, etc. Guides students, parents/families, and prospective students to appropriate resources and triages questions to appropriate home offices, as needed. Participates in the recruitment of prospective students and provides guidance to students and parents/families through the admissions and enrollment process. Communicates with and advises current and prospective students via in-person meetings, video conferences, teleconference, email, chat messages, etc. Reports any concerns to supervisor. Learns to assist with prospective students in their transition to TAMU.

Procedure & Documentation - Maintains knowledge of TAMU policies and procedures, as well as knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to enrollment and academic services specialty. Provides information and advises departments and external agencies on TAMU policies and procedures for enrollment and academic services activities. Prepares documents and correspondence for internal and external agencies. Maintains program records and databases. Maintains academic records and databases.

Programs - Plans, develops, and implements programs, events, and activities to recruit and/or educate current and prospective students, parents, departments, or external agencies. Responds to inquiries about program, events, and seminars, and workshop offerings. Delivers informational workshops, trainings, and seminars on specialized topics under enrollment and academic services.
