Position Overview
The Student Navigator will support students enrolled in the TCOM retention program cohort of students in all aspects of their educational journey. The Student Navigator is responsible for supporting structured leadership development activities, serving as a liaison to university faculty, staff, and administrators, and facilitating cohort participation in university functions. Additionally, the Student Navigator supports the management of all aspects of an assigned section of the college curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required License / Registration / Certification
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM.
Occasional weekends and evenings for student events. Occasional travel for conferences. A hybrid work schedule is available.

Job Duties


o
Work with the cohort student leadership to:
  • Assist class officers and other students in cohort, and develop a strategy to create community within the cohort and maintain. cohort-member enthusiasm and engagement throughout the year
  • Assist with the planning and execution of all events and activities for the cohort.
  • Gather and provide data under the direction of leadership for all cohort events, which can then be used to assess the proficiency of the program.
  • Actively meet and establish positive/supportive relationships with members of your assigned cohort.
o
Support the Assistant Director for Enrichment to develop and implement TCOM retention program for first year students:
  • Develop and distribute marketing materials to promote TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with admissions to identify methods to promote the TCOM retention program to newly accepted students to TCOM.
  • Develop and facilitate programming for each component (study skills, board, prep, financial literacy, professional development, Enrichment Programming) for the TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with TCOM faculty, community physicians, and residency programs to develop mentorship program for students in the TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with the HSC Division of Student Affairs (DSA) departments such as Center for Academic Performance (CAP), Office of Care and Civility,
  • Facilitate programming and resources for financial literacy.
  • Serve as a liaison to students within the cohort to connect with College Faculty Advisors, Residency Counselors, the Center for Academic Performance (CAP), and the Office of Care and Civility. Student Assistant Resource Center, Testing and Evaluation.
o
Collaborate with DSA’s Department of Student Engagement and Experience to implement Enrichment programming for TCOM students, faculty, and staff.
o
Collect data with educational technology/tools as assigned in curricular, co-curricular or assessment activities.
o
Support and assist with the educational technologies used in the classrooms.
o
Provides support and information to students and leadership on a variety of issues related to the cohort.
o
Schedule, order food, and take minutes of TCOM retention programming and Enrichment activities.
o
Complete special projects and duties as assigned.
