JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Geosciences in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist (Senior Professional) to provide technical support in a highly specialized research environment.

What You’ll Do :

  • Develop new or modified methods and equipment, coordinate standards and calibration, and facilitate maintenance for a variety of standard and non-standard instruments, hardware, and other systems in laboratories.

  • Diagnose system faults and repair needs to facilitate the resolution of technical issues for various types of research instruments.

  • Coordinate laboratory equipment use, order supplies, perform facilities maintenance, and ensure safe material storage.

  • Participate in strategic planning of departmental research needs and collaborate with faculty to design/develop research activities, purchase new equipment, install and demonstrate equipment technology, and ensure compliance with relevant compliance and safety regulations within budget constraints.

  • Liaison with the facilities representative/OPP on any lab needs for renovations, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and gas needs.

  • Negotiate with inside and outside investigators, contractors, and collaborators to achieve requirements for project success.

  • Guide faculty, post-docs, and students in lab-related activities, research, and data gathering.

Required Qualifications :

This position typically requires an Associate's Degree or higher and eight or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Flexible Work Arrangement:

This position may have the possibility for a hybrid schedule working some days in the office and others remotely.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
