Job Description:

The BHCC Employment Placement Specialist (EPS) (Career Placement Counselor) will support students by helping to secure job placements after completing an Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) training at BHCC. The Employment Placement Specialist will connect students with local employers and job opportunities following training. This position will develop relationships with existing and potential employers, co-develop an employer outreach strategy consistent with the multitude of employer-facing services at the college. Along with the Internships and Career Development (ICD) office, career navigator and other program staff, this position will prepare students in the art of applying for and securing jobs. Assist students in career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills and networking strategies. The Employee Placement Specialist will help students seek out employers who offer professional development, tuition assistance, and help them assess the health, dental and retirement benefits offered. Guiding employers to define "skill sets" and matching those with particular students will lead to strong outcomes. The Employee Placement Specialist will use CRM platforms and other tech tools to track student and employer data.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support min of 120 students by helping them to secure job placements.
  • Connect students with local employers and job opportunities following training.
  • Develop relationships with potential employers and codify existing relationships.
  • Co-Develop an employer outreach strategy consistent with the multitude of employer-facing services at the college.
  • Assist students in career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills and networking strategies.
  • Guiding employers to define "skill sets" and matching those with particular students as well as helping employers navigate the BHCC system.
  • Utilize student management, learning management and CRM (Handshake, Salesforce and Target X) Systems to track data.
  • Follow up with students for job placement to make sure they are still gainfully employed.
  • Represent the college in employer interactions while working with teams across the college community.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Rapid, Recovery and Re-employment (R3).
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in college- wide activities.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Counseling, Education, or closely related field with two (2) years experience and/or training involving career counseling, recruitment, or counseling; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student and staff population and a commitment to Equity.
  • Ability to meet students where they are and support them through multiple means of communication at different times including nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrated job placement outcomes and employer satisfaction.
  • Ability to management deadlines and priorities in a timely manner.
  • Experience working in teams and communicating across different departments or constituencies.
  • Ability and to use and learn multiple computer platforms and technology to accomplish goals. (Ex include all MS office, Google, Calendy, zoom, WebEx, proprietary software that leads to certification etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Human Resources Talent Management and/ or career counseling.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • Familiarity with Handshake, Salesforce,  Career Coach or Wingspan  or other job support/CRM software


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $52,686 - $56,763. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education & Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Grade 3 Unit Professional position.This is a full time, benefited, grant-funded MCCC position.

37.5/hrs. week, days including some weeknights and weekends.

Grant- funded Renewal for Spring 2025.  Second year is contingent on meeting successful outcomes of project plan and funding renewal.

This position is eligible for on-campus and partial tele-work options to be determined by supervisor.

Term of Employment:  ASAP; Anticipated start date August 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025

Reports to the Assistant Director, Rapid, Recovery and Re-employment (R3) program.
