Job Summary
 

Responsible for coordinating and managing emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts within their assigned campus. Ensures the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors during emergencies and disasters. Responsible for the university's Crisis Coordinator Program, Emergency Management Training, Emergency Mass Notification System operation, Campus Emergency Response Team, Situational Awareness instruction and publication of After-Action Reports. Stays informed, interprets implications, and provides guidance on federal regulations and institutional rules and policies in the application of all four phases of Emergency Management: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with updating the University Emergency Operations Plan on an annual basis. Assists with continuity of operations planning, special event incident action plans and venue specific operations plans
2. Assists with planning Campus Safety Day and special event activities 
3. Works closely with campus stakeholders on community assistance plans and emergency call center operations
4. Assists with forecasting disaster response and recovery needs based on threat, risk and consequence
5. Coordinates activities of emergency management programs, as assigned
6. Provides emergency preparedness training and exercises on campus
7. Serves as the primary liaison for the campus Crisis Coordinators; provides training to new Crisis Coordinators; maintains inventory of Crisis Coordinator equipment; performs radio communication tests with Crisis Coordinators; performs radio maintenance
8. Responds to campus emergencies, as needed
9. Works closely with other emergency management staff, public safety members, special event staff, environmental health and safety, student health services, student affairs, residence life and facility operations. Participates in Emergency Operations Center activations
10. Assists department with timely accomplishment of annual goals and objectives
11. Assists with Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) on campus
12. Provides insight and instance with procurement and budget needs


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field
Other Required Qualifications
Complete ICS100, 200, 700 and 800 within sixty (60) days of employment
Complete ICS300 within twelve (12) months of employment
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Certification as a CPR/Basic Life Support Instructor within ninety (90) days of employment
Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant work experience

State of Georgia Certification of Emergency Management (CEM)
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Operational emergency management, public safety, or military experience
Emergency management planning, operating, leading and directing experience in a higher education campus environment


Proposed Salary
 

The budgeted salary range is $60,920 to $74,000.  Offers are based on relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
 

ABILITIES
Able to operate various emergency notification platforms, including the outdoor siren warning system, emergency alert system and social media. Assists with various emergency notification tests
Maintains relationships with local, state, and federal emergency management and other related agencies
Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act)
Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS)
Familiar with emergency management and public safety equipment
Understands special and athletic event operations and prepares to support
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong Attention to detail and strong organizational and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette
