The J. Mack Robinson College of Business Technology Services department is accepting applications to fill the open position of Educational Technology Specialist Lead. Reporting to the Educational Technology Specialist Manager. This position is located at the Buckhead Center but occasional work at the Atlanta campus may be required. This position works closely with the Robinson College faculty to provide consultation and professional development for the integration of educational technology into the higher education classroom. This position develops, produces, and publishes strategies and content to assist Robinson faculty in enhancing their pedagogy through technology-enriched instruction. 

The Educational Technology Specialist Lead brings a faculty-first approach to developing simulcast, online, and face-to-face instructional strategies and material for Robinson faculty, in addition to promoting new learning technologies, delivery strategies, and pedagogy options. This position develops resources and services, including tailored training programs, online reference materials, and learning modules, focusing on best practices across the educational technology industry.

 Expected Duties:

  • Development of cutting-edge digestible content, including but not limited to webinars, podcasts, interviews, and interactive learning modules.
  • Development and dissemination of online materials focusing on proven strategies that can positively impact student progression, retention, and graduation.
  • Assists in planning and overseeing the content strategy, requirements, and deliverables that support the Robinson College brand across the web, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Provide advanced instructional design services and project management for Robinson College online learning materials and courses.
  • Become the SME in the planning of simulcast instructional approaches, focusing on student engagement strategies, integrating technology-enhanced learning tools, developing mix-mode teams, and ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all students.
  • Conduct needs assessment, design and develop high-quality online course material, incorporating a variety of effective instructional tools and technology.
  • Assist in the creation of appropriate content and recommend approaches to meet intended learning outcomes, following appropriate legal, ethical, and procedural guidelines and practices, including accessibility.
  • Network with faculty, department heads, program managers, and other learning technology stakeholders.
  • Research and recommend new educational technologies and strategies.
  • Participate in University System of Georgia meetings, task forces, conferences, and constituent groups to promote Robinson's learning technology interests.
  • Work with the GSU Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Online Education (CETLOE) designers and Marketing Communications’ branding initiatives to create on-brand materials in a variety of formats including but not limited to PDF, PowerPoint, Video, and Audio Modules.
  • Become the iCollege (D2L) Learning Management System SME and provide assistance to faculty with course content, tool integration, and any educational technology-related questions.
  • Manage Graduate Assistants and train them to be technologically savvy and useful to professors in the Graduate programs.
  • Attend and present at professional conferences, webinars, and workshops.

Flexible Work Schedules

The role will primarily work out of the Buckhead Center. This position is eligible for a flexible schedule and hybrid remote working that meet the needs of the employee and Robinson College -– noting that this role will be supporting students on-campus and should be accessible, in-person as required to support the student population.

  • Optional Retirement Plan -- ORP is a 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan. Employees contribute 6% and USG contributes 9.24% to the plan. Employees are immediately vested.
  • Teacher Retirement System -- TRS is a Defined Benefit Plan, a traditional public pension plan. Employees contribute 6% and USG contributes 19.81% to the plan. Your retirement benefit is calculated by factoring years of service, final salary and 2% multiplier. Employees are vested after 10 years.

Qualifications

: 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Experience with learning management systems and instructional design including working across multiple subject areas.
  • Ability to develop learning content while keeping in mind the user experience.
  • Ability to develop learning products for the unique needs of higher education faculty.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in the design of rigorous and relevant assessments to effectively measure progress and mastery.
  • Experience working with product teams to create a quality user experience in addition to building learning assets and/or curriculum for simulcast, online, and face-to-face learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of learning theory, learning system design, and instructional development related to online learning and teaching is required.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team and with management and Robinson leadership, are required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Experience with website/content/social media management.
  • Strong understanding of document design and rhetoric.
  • Should possess a passion for continued professional development in the areas of instructional design, learning experience design, curriculum development, simulcast teaching, and learning, etc.
  • Ability to present complex analyses effectively.
