604: Digital Storytelling Lab. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the essentials of educational audio. Students will get their hands e-dirty with audio production: recording, editing, mixing, and publishing. We start by identifying the set of presentations students want to create, then move through the scripting, recording, editing, and mixing processes.
The secret to good media production is having good quality audio. This is true of podcasts and screencasts and video. Thus, the relevance of this course goes beyond audio-only presentations. The ethos of the course is to provide students with many opportunities to practice the audio creation cycle. In total students will create 30 minutes of content around a “topic area” that they individually define.
