Job Summary | This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time, limited duration Education Program Assistant 1 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement at Oregon State University. This position will serve Multnomah County. This limited duration Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA) position has an appointment period of one year from the start date. This appointment period may be extended, depending upon available funding. This position will be based at the OSU Food Innovation Center in Portland and will serve the Oregon State University Extension Service in Multnomah County. Work may be performed in a hybrid capacity. The Education Program Assistant 1 assists in the delivery of the Master Gardener Program for the Oregon State University Extension Service in Multnomah County. The incumbent works with program faculty to coordinate the Master Gardener training and volunteer program. The EPA serves as the primary point of contact for 200+ volunteers, community partners and the public for the Master Gardener program in Multnomah County. What We Require | High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults |
What You Will Need |
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. |

Working Conditions / Work Schedule | This Education Program Assistant position will be based at the OSU Food Innovation Center in Portland, Oregon. About 70% of work will be performed during regular business hours. Additional work on evening and weekends will be required. At times, work will take place outdoors in sheltered locations at public events such as farmers’ markets. The ability to lift and move 25 pounds of teaching materials is required. The Education Program Assistant has regular contact with the public, in person and by telephone or email, to promote awareness of interest in a program. There is regular communication in person, by telephone and email with participants, potential participants, and community partners to deliver educational programs. Education Program Assistants work collaboratively with volunteers. Driving/travel is required to support delivery of educational programming throughout assigned area. |
