The University of North Georgia’s College of Education is currently accepting applications for dynamic individuals to join our professional community as a faculty member in the Teacher Education Department. The successful candidate will be a member of the Early Childhood and Special Education Program. We are specifically interested in candidates having expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

UNG College of Education graduates are highly regarded by regional school districts as a result of this focus on extended classroom experience.
The PDC model provides an opportunity for UNG faculty and school district faculty to engage students in a community of collaboration, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to service. Partnerships established with the University of North Georgia teacher education programs and local school systems are designed to create environments that support professional development, personal growth, and academic excellence in the context of service to our students, colleagues, institution, community, and discipline. This partnership model allows for teaching, research, and professional development to be conducted in collaborative, creative, and inclusive groups of faculty peers that celebrate innovation, problem solving, and openness to discussion. Faculty in the UNG College of Education are expected to model professional and personal integrity, communication skills, passion for teaching, and collaborative support and care for the community that we hope to inculcate in the children served by our partner schools.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a member of the Early Childhood Education and Special Education Program, which is housed in the Teacher Education Department and includes undergraduate, graduate, and endorsement courses. The faculty member is expected to teach specified courses, prepare course materials, provide support and guidance to students, foster professional relationships with public school partners, maintain records pertinent to accreditation, assist in the development of an ASD endorsement program, and supervise students in completing field placements. Commitment to a collaborative curriculum development model is expected. The primary teaching location will be in a Professional Development Community on or near the Dahlonega, Cumming, or Gainesville campuses with the possibility of additional locations, as needed. Course assignments may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- The successful candidate must have familiarity with teaching, learning, and education theories
- A commitment to being a collaborative member of a PDC model
- Knowledge of current national standards
- Ability to work collegially with other members of the College faculty and utilize opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Professional written and oral communication skills
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
- Required qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field with a specialty in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12 schools is required.
- A track record of success in research and acquisition of external funding is preferred.
