Ecolab Research Technician

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN 1 needed to assist with Ecolab activities at the Ohio State Mansfield campus. Specifically, duties may include but are not limited to monitoring plantings aimed to improve pollinator (e.g., butterfly, songbird) habitat, herpetofauna surveys, assessing vegetation in permanent forest plots, assisting with various tasks in the OSU Maple sugarbush, managing invasive plant species, maintaining campus hiking trails, and more. The successful applicant will be supervised by project PI, Gabriel Karns.


Hourly wages for the position are $15.00. Position is full-time for the specified 10 weeks of summer (May 28-August 2). Position is open to anyone with or currently pursuing a degree in the natural resources or environmental sciences majors/disciplines.

Additional Information:

Qualifications: A valid driver’s license is required. Onsite training for various research protocols will be provided, and a desire to participate in research is important. Applicants will need to have a positive attitude, good communication, and self-motivation.  Applicants must be able to carry moderately heavy loads and tolerate (e.g., hot, humid) outdoor working conditions.  Applicants should demonstrate a desire to pursue a career directly or indirectly related to the fields of environment, natural resources, or agricultural disciplines.
