Position Summary

This position supports the educational mission, as well as providing higher-level support for using technology across programs. The higher-level support is working with faculty and Instructional Designers to develop and maintain online and technology-enhanced courses. He/she will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Learning Management System which impacts all student enrollments, assignments, and grades. This is a responsibility with no margin of error as mistakes will wipe out student content and affect programs and grading. This role will be responsible for distributing digital content across courses and programs and will have a solid understanding of instructional approaches to ensure the user experience in the learning management system is intuitive. He/she will work directly with the Instructional Designers and the video production team to create course content that accomplishes the objectives for classroom and online content as administered through the learning management system. This position will research possible new technologies to augment the online and residential programs. This also means working directly in conjunction with the faculty members, the larger instructional technologies group and program managers to implement the chosen solution. The E-Learning Instructional Specialist will help to assess content to optimize learning, ensure the course layout supports learning, and meets the learner’s needs. The E-Learning Instructional Specialist will help create visual, audio and interactive learning tools. This position will also participate with the team to test and implement small pilots to improve student engagement, template standardization, and influence the use of best practices. He/she will have expert knowledge of the learning management system functionality and will be able to assist faculty in improving their course sites.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position’s role.
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

E-Learning Responsibilities
-Gather information and course elements from faculty and programs.
-Support the deployment of courses, including uploading, copying and updating courseware and curricula, assignments, syllabus and other pertinent course materials delivered by faculty.
-Proficiency in e-learning, authoring software or similar tools.
-Utilize knowledge of LMS capabilities to recommend delivery strategies that yield a rich, meaningful, and dynamic end-user experience.
-Apply interaction design and interactive learning principles to instructional solutions for adult learners.

Must be available for very occasional travel for training and to represent the school and present at professional organization meetings and conferences. Travel may include international travel and span over a weekend.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

-Utilize LMS reporting capabilities and developing custom reports to assist with planning and managing data and course improvement initiatives.
-Apply creative design to the discipline of instructional design with an emphasis on multimedia.
-Develop an understanding or courses to effectively leverage new technologies and multimedia.
-Knowledgeable of project management approaches and principles.

Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods during programs, have the ability to move equipment up to 25 lbs and must be capable of climbing a ladder to reach equipment.
