The Department of Marketing and Communications tells the story of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and promotes and protects the TAMU-CC brand. We achieve our goals through:

  • Marketing - The Office of Marketing provides print, digital media, photography, licensing, and advertising placement services to develop the university’s image and brand. As the university’s arm for both internal and external marketing, the Marketing Office emphasizes the use of strategic and integrated marketing that support the university’s mission and goals. Branding - We maintain the University Brand Guidelines and provide tools and resources for our campus partners.

  • Communications - The Office of Communications is the keeper of the university’s image to the internal and external community. The Director of Communications guides the telling of the university’s story through public relations efforts including press release, media inquiries, and crisis communications.  

  • Web Services & Social Media - The Office of Web Services and Social Media administers the main universities web presence and top-tier social media accounts. We provide assistance and training for the web content management system, Cascade, as well as guidance for web and social media best practices.

WHAT WE WANT

This is a rare opportunity to join an active department that integrates with almost every area of campus. You will be working with dedicated individuals to help maintain the highest level of content creation, quality control, customer service, and support.

The E-Communications Specialist, under general supervision, manages the university’s top tier e-marketing and social media projects. This position assists with implementing, advancing, and measuring internet communications via social media for the university, consistent with efforts to extend the university’s brand, story, and public relations efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the social media publishing calendar in coordination with Marketing and Communications personnel to keep constituents informed, grow university brand, and support all aspects of campus strategic initiatives.

  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences, analyze data for insight and iteration.

  • Establish social media strategy and goals to maximize the university’s positive branding.

  • Design and implement social media strategy to align with university goals, utilizing social media analytics and metrics.

  • Implement crisis communication strategies for social media platforms to ensure a cohesive and unified response.

  • Monitor social media channels in real-time to identify potential crisis situations and emerging issues that may impact the university.

  • In alignment with the university’s strategic plan and in coordination with Marketing and Communications personnel, communicate the university’s narrative though social media storytelling, messaging strategy, and the social media content calendar.

  • Generate, edit, and share engaging content daily with original and unique copy, photos, videos, etc.

  • Copywrite and edit posts for university-branded social media, including other campus social media sharing recommendations.

  • Be the go-to resource for the university for social media trends, analytics, and best practices.

  • Work with creative staff (photographer and videographer) on creating social media assets that reinforce the university’s visual branding and support social media campaign efforts.

  • Work with university web personnel in monitoring social traffic metrics to reach cross-promotional goal on all platforms.

  • Produce a regular analysis of social media activity, growth, sentiment, and popular conversations across the university’s reach.

  • Collaborate with campus communications staff to ensure brand and messaging consistency and effectiveness.

  • Maintain an active presence and engagement with followers and identify opportunities to amplify accurate and reliable information.

  • Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications.

  • Maintains quality control of all information released on behalf of the university.

  • Face-to-face and person-to-person interactions are required.

  • Maintain a regular course of attendance during assigned work schedule and work extended hours when needed.

  • Some nights and weekends are required for event coverage.

  • Supervise student workers that assist in e-marketing and social initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three (3) years of related experience.

  • Writing, analytics, and excellent public speaking skills.

  • Must possess strong writing, editing, public speaking, and leadership ability.

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Knowledge of web site organization/design, social media platforms, and internet technologies and terms.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently once given a project.

  • Ability to think creatively and implement concepts in a web environment.

SALARY: $50,000/annually, approximately ($4,166.67/monthly)
