Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Broadwell College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University is seeking to hire a leading and outstanding scholar to serve as a Distinguished Professor of Economics. The anticipated start date is Fall 2024. Position will remain open until filled.

As a Distinguished Professor of Economics, the ideal candidate will be eligible for appointment to the rank of full, tenured professor, and will have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, community engagement, and program management.
Description of Work Continued:
Specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the University’s priorities and the individual hired, but the successful candidate should be able to:
• Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Engaging in impactful research, grant writing, consulting, and training activities while maintaining a productive program of scholarship in technology-infused business education
• Conducting student-led research and publish research articles in high-quality academic journals
• Contributing to the strategic initiatives of the college, be active in university and community service consistent with the mission of Fayetteville State University
• Collaborating with the BCBE’s internal and external stakeholders in the development and delivery of signature curricular and co-curricular applied learning experiences for degree and non-degree programs; leading undergraduate and graduate student experiences that enable a deeper understanding of the issues and barriers to economic success
• Successfully integrating innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems with Fayetteville State’s curricular and co-curricular programs and activities to foster student development and success as innovators and entrepreneurs
• Being a catalyst for new external partnerships that accelerate economic development through innovation by identifying, initiating, and advancing collaborative opportunities with local, regional, and statewide groups
• Applying emerging technologies in research and teaching
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • .The candidate must have a doctorate in Economics from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • The successful candidate must have a track record of industry and/or academic thought leadership and a solid record of scholarly accomplishments and publications in top-tier journals.
  • Demonstrated success in high-quality teaching, corporate learning, and community outreach is expected.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred experience in Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience in university outreach and public relations.
  • Specialization in International Economics would be a plus.
  • Additional consideration given to candidates with Experience/Expertise in any of the following areas: entrepreneurship, supply chain management, project management, construction management.
