The University of Southern California (USC) Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is seeking a Distance Learning Systems Specialist to join our staff and student community.  This position will be responsible for providing distance education training and technical support for control room and post-production operations to faculty, staff, and students.

Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean, the Distance Learning Systems Specialist will work in collaboration with the school’s IT team. The ideal candidate will have experience with software applications such as Blackboard, editing systems, and post-production programs.   The successful candidate will be customer-service and teamwork-oriented, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments to achieve objectives. 

Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of live and recorded courses by distance education instructors.
  • Provides instructor support for class activities such as electronic boards, webcast applications, and interactive conferencing (e.g., web, phone, video).
  • Support all instructional activities and professional program offerings.
  • Perform routine operations equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as a key resource for information. Resolves questions and issues, and interfaces with faculty, staff, and leadership to communicate information and updates. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA or BS Degree
  • Three years of experience in specialized/technical training.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to organize data and analyze trends and patterns 
  • Ability to work with close attention to detail and meet necessary deadlines 
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Proficient with media technology, Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro
  • Experience with capturing and delivering e-Learning Systems
  • Experience working in the higher education field is ideal.

This is a full-time non-exempt that will require substantial commitment and flexibility, light traveling is required for conferences.

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.00 – $35.00. Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Specialized/technical training Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience with capturing and delivering e-Learning Systems (via web and other electronic formats) and providing interactive conferencing set-up and support (web, phone, and audio/visual conferencing). Operations level experience with e-Learning Systems and services. Knowledge of support of instructional operations and technologies inside studio classrooms, such as computers, electronic boards, and other interactive conferencing technologies. Knowledge of computing environments and specific support for e-Learning hardware and software. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Media technology and Real Networks streaming services. TCIP/IP based networking and computer support and troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of networks and digitizing process. Knowledge of video and editing systems and processes.
