Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Office of Research Integrity provides oversight, education, and guidance on:
  • Ethical conduct of human and animal research
  • Responsible for conduct of research
  • Biosafety
  • Federal and state regulations
  • Export control and international travel or collaboration policies
  • External professional activities for pay
  • Conflicts of interest
Position Summary
The Director of Research Integrity is responsible for providing clarity in research integrity policies and procedures that promote research. Ensuring that research integrity policies and educational programs promote both a culture of innovation and collaboration on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro campus. Providing service and resources in areas of research integrity that enhance research, teaching, and other creative endeavors. Engagement with committees across campus that intersect with the ORI. This position is responsible for oversight of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Conflicts of Interest (COI), Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and serves as the Research Integrity Officer (RIO).
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including a Masters and 3 years of experience, in a scientific, regulatory or policy field.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development, interpretation, analysis, and implementation of policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in the review and interpretation of federal regulations and application of determinations.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in working with federal regulations and compliance in the area of research.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels in a university setting and as a team member.
  • Ability to approach problems and decisions analytically.
  • Background in managing complex university compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in personnel management.
