Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Director of the University Center for Economic Development oversees full programmatic and budgetary responsibility for the University Center for Economic Development. Charts the direction for the Center. Develops funding resources to sustain the program and Center projects. Develops the network of external contacts and resources to support long-term sustainability.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, political science, or economic development and eight (8) years of experience; OR master's degree in business, political science, or economic development and six (6) years of experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: This position is highly demanding, requiring long days, weekends and travel four or more days per week, on a consistent basis. Travel is primarily by car, throughout Alabama, but also includes travel to Washington DC, to interface with federal agencies and Alabama elected delegation, and to other cities in the U.S., as part of contracts, national organization obligations and for professional development.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
