Position Summary:
 
The UCI School of Medicine is dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and clinical practice through scholarly research, education, and high-quality clinical care. The School oversees the education and training of medical students and graduate students at the UCI School of Medicine, ranked as one of the top 50 U.S. medical schools for research by U.S. News & World Report. We are dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and clinical practice by offering a rich educational environment. We nurture the development of medical students, resident physicians and scholars in the clinical and basic sciences and support the dissemination of research advances for the benefit of society. Each year, we educate more than 400 medical students and train more than 700 residents and fellows at UCI Health facilities and affiliated institutions. The medical school's 915 full- and part-time and 753 volunteer faculty members are involved in teaching, providing care and conducting research into the health challenges facing the 21st century. The school has 24 departments, ranging from basic science research to clinical medical and surgical specialties. It has research, clinical and teaching relationships with the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and Childrens Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
 
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet planning program schedules and goals. Responsible for managing a planning project or organizational unit. Establishes planning goals and monitors department and complex projects to ensure compliance with university and local standards. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Develops plans and staffing / financial needs to complete them. Work is reviewed and measured based upon meeting objectives. Determines long-term and short-term strategic plans to achieve the objectives of the organization.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $100,600.00 - $190,800.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $100,600.00 - $190,800.00 (Annual Salary).
 
Required:
 
  • Minimum 10 years’ progressive work experience in planning, construction and design, or related field. 
  • Previous supervisory experience. 
  • Pervious work experience as a supervisor or manager in a planning, construction and design, or related role preferred. 
  • Experience working in a university or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning and Design or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Broad knowledge / skill in comprehensive complex planning operations management.
  • Broad knowledge of architecture, urban design, city planning or landscape architecture, including advanced knowledge of building design or planning in a large-scale public or institutional setting. 
  • Broad knowledge of planning, design, construction, environmental issues, legal issues, federal, state and local laws, regulations and practices governing planning, and state / federal legislative processes. 
  • Broad knowledge / skills in human and fiscal resources administration, including strong leadership and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills. 
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills, including strong negotiating skills and highly developed political acumen. 
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of management & medical staff, as well as representatives of regulatory agencies & businesses Knowledge and experience in planning and implementing clinical outpatient and clinical research facilities in compliance with Titles 22 and 24 of the Uniform Building Codes.
  • Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) with the ability to run various reports
     

Preferred:
 
• PMP Certification preferred
