Job Summary

The College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Director in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation (KNR). We are seeking a dynamic director with administrative experience to lead thriving undergraduate and graduate programs, which include the following areas: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Recreation and Park Administration. The Director is responsible for strategic leadership, fiscal management, curriculum development and review, personnel management, enrollment management, School accreditations, assessment, advancement, and oversight of the teaching and research laboratories. The Director will encourage high quality research, teaching, and service, and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the School’s mission and vision. The Director shall develop partnerships within and outside the university, as well as promote the School's programs to alumni, businesses, government agencies, and other educational institutions.

The School of KNR is one of two Schools and six Departments in the College of Applied Science and Technology (www.cast.illinoisstate.edu). The School of Kinesiology and Recreation (KNR) has 959 total undergraduate majors and 37 full-time faculty members in the school and includes undergraduate programs to prepare majors in exercise science (sequences in allied health professions and health and human performance), physical education teacher education, recreation and park administration (sequences in recreation management and therapeutic recreation). Over 130 Master’s degree students represent one of the largest graduate programs on campus, with majors and sequences in applied community and economic development, athletic training, biomechanics, exercise physiology, physical education pedagogy, psychology of sport and physical activity, recreation management, and sport management. The KNR faculty is committed to excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching and is nationally recognized. Staffing also includes two full-time academic advisors and five civil service support staff. The School of Kinesiology and Recreation is located in state-of-the-art facility that was opened in 2011. Required Qualifications

1) Hold a doctoral degree in an area appropriate to KNR.
2) Academic achievement that merits appointment with tenure at the rank of associate or full professor.
3) Demonstrated ability in working and communicating effectively with faculty, staff and students in kinesiology and recreation
4) Success in academic administration.
5) Demonstrate the ability and willingness to provide vision and leadership for a diverse school.
6) Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
