What Do We Do At GSU?
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at Georgia State University is a dynamic and diverse workplace supporting GSU’s research community and rapidly growing portfolio of sponsored projects. Last year, GSU faculty brought in $164.2 million in research funding, topping $100 million for the 8th consecutive year!
OSP is structured to provide targeted service to GSU’s research community. There are two different teams, pre-award and post-award. This vacancy announcement is for the Director of the post-award team, who will direct, plan, and coordinate the team’s activities and provide professional expertise in sponsored projects.
What Will You Do At GSU?
- · Directs the coordination and management of the day-to-day grant and contract post-award activities, including project setup, expense monitoring, project closeout, fiscal compliance and reporting, cash management, etc.
- · Ensures appropriate distribution of workload to meet deadlines, assisting faculty and staff in the proper expenditure of funds and assuring quality customer service.
- · Functions as the lead liaison for numerous annual and agency-specific grant and contract audits.
- · Develops and maintains applicable procedures and guidelines to minimize institutional risk and ensure GSU complies with regulatory requirements.
- · Advise the Assistant Vice President, OSP, on post-award issues.
- · Serves as a University signature authority for post-award activities.
- · Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports regarding recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning for the post-award team.
- · Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls that provides reasonable assurance that operations are practical and efficient financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- · As always, performs other duties as assigned

- · Working knowledge of post-award requirements and regulations of different types of awards mechanisms from various sponsors or funders

Minimum Hiring Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of supervisory/management experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications
Seven (7) years of directly related experience. Previous accounting experience in higher education is preferred, or a Master’s in Accounting/Business Administration and Certificate in Research Administration (CRA)
