General Summary

The Director of Online and Strategic Initiatives within the Division of Enrollment Management leads and advances the recruitment, retention, and growth of students enrolled in online programs. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enrollment, this position establishes a strategic and innovative direction to advance the development and expansion of online program offerings, focusing on both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for online and other strategic populations aligned with the university's enrollment goals.
  • Collaborate with Deans and other university stakeholders to identify and assess market demands, ensuring the relevance and competitiveness of online program offerings.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Admissions and the Associate Provost of Graduate Studies, oversee the recruitment and admission processes for online programs, employing data-driven strategies to achieve enrollment targets.
  • Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies for adult learners, focusing on re-recruitment initiatives to attract individuals seeking to return to education.
  • Facilitate support services to address the unique needs of adult learners and enhance their academic success.
  • Lead and manage a team of enrollment specialists to provide comprehensive support to online and other strategic populations.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff proficiency.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor enrollment trends, track program success, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Establish partnerships with school districts, corporate partners, and community colleges to facilitate seamless pathways into online programs.
  • Collaborate on outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to promote online programs and facilitate enrollment.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders through regular communication, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
Five years of progressive experience in college admissions is required.
Proven experience in a leadership role within admissions, enrollment management, or a related field is required.
Strong understanding of admissions processes, enrollment trends, and best practices in higher education.
Proficiency in utilizing data analysis and CRM systems to inform decision-making and drive recruitment strategies.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering collaboration, appreciation, and a positive work culture.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in higher education admissions, including NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and EMU policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities within the enrollment landscape.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree is preferred.
